Dr. Melissa Arthurs-Wadsworth attended the Immaculate Conception High School for girls and went on to attend the University of the West Indies (UWI). She gained a BSc. in Environmental and Marine Biology (Double Major) in 2008 and thereafter went on to pursue medicine in 2009. She completed her MB.BS and internship training in 2014 at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI). After completing her Senior House Officer (SHO) training at the UHWI she attained her postgraduate training and Doctorate of Medicine (DM) in Internal Medicine in 2022.

In 2022 she also won the distinguished Association of Consultant Physicians of Jamaica (ACPJ) "Young Investigators Award" for her research paper entitled "The prevalence of and risk factors associated with Infective Endocarditis in patients at the University Hospital of the West Indies".

At the Island Medicial offices she offers consultations in Internal Medicine where she provides quality care and attention to our patients.

Dr. Arthurs-Wadsworth works as a Physician at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) and assists with teaching of students enrolled in the medical programme. She is currently the Chief Resident for the Internal Medicine Programme at UHWI. She also works closely with the UWI SODECO team in the area of research.

With a very keen interest in Gastroenterology, she hopes to complete further fellowship training in the subspeciality very soon.
